Affordable Housing Consultation

Having a safe and stable home is necessary for economic participation.

Right now, there are too many Albertans that do not know how they will be able to pay their rent or even know where they are going to sleep at night. In 2017, over 500 000 Albertan renters could not afford to pay their rent long term - and there were over 6000 Albertans homeless.

Access to affordable housing lays a foundation for higher rates of economic participation. and provides stability, consistency, and security for individuals and families to thrive.

We need to develop a new strategy so no Albertan needs to worry about how they will be able to pay their rent month-over-month and new policies that give more Albertans the ability to buy a place of their own.

I hope you can join us for the upcoming consultations to our proposals and to discuss where we go next.
